There are more than
49,600 reasons to volunteer
What's your reason?

It’s time to applaud Special Olympics Canada’s volunteers.

There are 22,000 Special Olympics volunteers – including more than 14,000 coaches – across the country, who are transforming the lives of Canadians with an intellectual disability through sport each and everyday.

From coast to coast to coast, these volunteers work tirelessly to support Special Olympics athletes in their community, city, province and country.

To our dedicated volunteers: we applaud you for giving countless hours to the Special Olympics movement, while asking for nothing in return.

Without you, Special Olympics programming – from weekly training in community clubs, to competitions and fundraising events – wouldn’t happen. More than 49,600 Special Olympics athletes rely on you to deliver life-changing sports programs and competition experiences.

For National Volunteer Week, April 19 to 25, we want to thank you. Your unwavering support helps Special Olympics athletes and their families build the confidence, determination and strength to take on any challenge in sport – and in life.

To celebrate YOU, we want to hear your WHY.

Why do you volunteer?

For a loved one?

For inclusion?

For the love of sport?

For the smiles?

Use our “Why I Volunteer” toolkit to share your story, inspire others, and attract more volunteers!
